From the Library Director
Thrall Public Library District Public Budget Hearing:
September 12, 2012
Library Budget & Trustee Vote:
October 2, 2012
The Thrall Public District of Middletown and Wallkill will be conducting a special meeting regarding the
proposed 2013 Budget. The meeting will take place in the Library's conference room on Wednesday, September 12, 2012, at 7 PM and is open to the public.
The Public Vote on the proposed 2013 library district budget and election of trustees will be held from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm on Tuesday October 2, 2012. Polls will be open in the Reading Room of the Middletown Thrall Library (11-19 Depot Street Middletown, NY 10940). All registered voters who reside in the Thrall Public Library District are eligible to vote. This includes residents of the Enlarged City School District of Middletown, residents of the Town of Mt. Hope who reside within the Pine Bush Central School District, and residents of the Town of Wallkill who reside within the Pine Bush Central School District, Valley Central School District, or Minisink Valley Central School District.
The proposed operating budget for next year is $3,243,506.00 representing an increase of 3.5% from the previous year. The proposed budget will increase the tax levy by 3.6% over 2012. This budget reflects an effort to maintain library district resources at their current levels and a desire to keep budget and tax levy increases to a minimum. One full-time staff position has been reduced to part-time through attrition in order to meet this goal. We are thankful for the generous monetary support we receive from the Friends of Middletown Thrall Library.
Currently there are two seats open on the Board of Trustees. The two candidates with the highest vote totals will receive four year terms.
You can pick up a copy of the proposed budget in the library or view the information on the library's website at
