About the Auto Repair Reference Center

This database contains information concerning parts, functions, and common automotive repairs for domestic and foreign vehicles.

  • Auto IQ - An interactive learning module that allows you to select topics or click on part of a car (shown on screen) to learn more how certain things work, such as Heating and Air Conditioning systems, Brakes, Ignition, Suspension and Steering, Fuel System, sensors, and more.
  • Care & Repair Tips - A list of general (non-vehicle-specific) recommendations for automotive owners interested in maintaining their vehicles. Topics include: a Buyer's Guide to Parts and Supplies, Safety Systems and Checks, Fuels and Lubricants, general Maintenance, Tune-Ups, Cooling Systems, Electrical Systems, Lights/Flashers, Fuses, Windshield Wipers, Interior Care, Radios, Wheels, Tires, Brakes, Body Care/Repair, a Glossary of automotive terms, and more.

This database can be accessed from any of Thrall Library's public Internet or research computers.

Concerning access outside the library:

Members of Middletown Thrall Library may log in to this service using their library barcode.

Some helpful hints:

When you access any information page in this database, often you will see a blue "closed book" icon to the left of a topic. Clicking on that topic or the blue book icon "opens the book" and will show more information below that topic.

Some subtopics will also contain "closed book" icons, which you can also click to see more information.

Once a topic is expanded (open), you can "close it" again by clicking the topic name (or the book icon next to it).
