Bethel A.M.E. South Street. Between Fulton and Wilbur Avenue. Note: A split in the congregation of St. John's in 1876 resulted in the formation of the Bethel A.M.E. Church. The new congregation, under Pastor William F. Townsend, dedicated its church on November 30, 1876 with Presiding Elder Darrell of Brooklyn in Charge.
