About the Name

PROTEUS
was a deity of the sea
who, thanks to Poseidon,
possessed the gift of prophecy
and could change shape
at will.

The Internet changes
every moment,
as do sources and their information
The results from any single search
are bound to vary.
Old queries yield new
information, engine to engine,
and the shapeshifting is endless.

Recognizing this,
Proteus provides the power,
variety and currency users
demand of a search tool to meet
the challenges of modern research.
