Library. It was an architectural triumph - a sensitive integration of the old with the new. The 1896 Erie Train station was painstakingly renovated and a matched yellow brick two story addition added to this original structure. The current reading room, technical processing area, secretary and director's office (which used to be the ticket booth) made up the old Erie Train Station section of the Library. Mrs. Gaines, who had worked tirelessly for this building, died less than one month after the library opened. Illness had prevented her from seeing the library in its final form, but she remained interested in its progress right to the end.
