Tips & Special Features:

The Advance Search link near the top of the page will let you search or browse the World Book Encyclopedia (entirely or specific portions of it) as well as other articles and features at the World Book Website.

Browse options include either article title, subject links, or year. You can browse: Encyclopedia Articles, Maps, Tables, Sounds, Pictures Animations & Videos, "Back in Time" articles, Special Reports, and Research Guides.

Browse links are located on the right side of the Advanced search page.

If you wish to search instead of browse, you can enter your search terms in the input box and then check one or more boxes beneath your search terms to limit searches to Text (Encyclopedia Articles, Behind the Headlines, Dictionary, Tables, "Back in Time" articles, Special Reports, Web Sites, and Research Guides) or Sound and Pictures (Maps, Sounds, Pictures, Videos & Animations, Historical Maps).

"Boolean" Search options can be found further down the Advanced search page. The "Boolean Operators" (AND, OR, NOT) allow you to specify what you want or do not want included in your search.

If you would like to incorporate more search terms in the "Boolean Search" area, click the "Show boxes for more words" link at the bottom of the "Boolean Search" panel. This will give you more search term input boxes for typing additional keywords.
