Advanced Concept: Folders

Your INBOX can hold any number of messages. Often there are messages you would like to keep, while the rest are deleted. Over time, you may find your INBOX contains so many messages that it becomes increasingly difficult to discern new messages or to locate certain older messages.

To remedy this, most e-mail programs allow you to create something called folders. Folders are separate areas you can put information into (just like their real world counterparts). Folders enable you to better organize information you receive by e-mail.

You can create folders and give them special names, so that when you receive e-mail, for example, from a friend, you can put it in a folder named something like FRIEND. To create a new folder, find the CREATE FOLDER (or "new folder") option in your e-mail, then give your new folder a name.

Once your new folder has been created, you can return to your INBOX and relocate messages to other folders by selecting messages and using the MOVE TO FOLDER option.
