The building still stands at 23 North St. as Serpentini Jewelers. Although bolly damaged when Tompkins store next door bumed in 1918, it was repaired. Prominent Middletown architect Cornelius J. Sloat designed the building, and the photo is from his collection. On the right is the Middletown Bank building. completed in April, 1862. P.B. Wight from New York City was the architect. This beautiful facade was destroyed in the early 1920s, being replaced with the inferior front on the building today.
