FIRST CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH (East Main Street): Middletown's first church was built in 1786 and tom down in 1833. The second church on the site, shown below, was erected in 1834 and demolished in 1871 to build the present building shown at left in a c1907 postcard. The architect was J. G. Perry. The church was dedicated October 22, 1873.
