ST. JOHN'S A.M.E. ZION CHURCH (East Avenue): This church was completed in 1924 on the corner of East Avenue and Everett Street, now the site of the Days Inn on Fulton Street. Edwin P, Valkenburgh was the architect. In 1962, during the Urban Renewal Program, the church was moved to its present location. The church is shown at left in a 1982 photo. UNITARIAN UNIVERSALIST CHURCH (East
Main Street): Originally Christ Church Universalist, the cornerstone was laid October 15, 1900, and the Chapel dedicated December 29, 1901. The memorial stained glass windows were done by the Louis Comfort Tiffany Studios. Frank J. Lindsey was the architect. The construction photo above was taken in the summer of 1901.
