AT LEFT AND BELOW: The beautiful residence of Frank B. Denton which stood on Orchard Street to the left of the present Boy Scouts Building was completed in 1892. The architects were Fuller & Wheeler. After a fire damaged the interior. the house went unoccupied until it was demolished in 1942. Both photos by Truman I. Moon, October, 1941.
BELOW: As far as is known, the only Octagon house built in Middletown was that of John W. Hasbrouck and his wife Lydia. Completed in November, 1857, it sood at the site now occupied by Memorial School on Linden Avenue. The outhouse was built in the same style as the house. Three additions were made later to both sides and the back. The house was tom down in 1919 to build the school.
