WEBB HORTON MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (East Main Street): The Second Presbyterian Church of Middletown (shown at right) was built on the site of Webb Horton. Designed by 2, H. Luckey, it was dedicated March 13, 1856. In 1906, the name was changed to Westminster Presbyterian. This building was tom down in 1912, and work begun on the present church. Eugene Horton provided the funding and named the church in memory of his father, 'The well-known New York City architectural firm of Camere & Hastings designed the Structure. The church was dedicated April 19, 1914, and is shown above in a 1914 postcard. To provide a place where Italians and Italian-Americans might worship in the Italian language, the Italian Chapel, later Trinity Presbyterian Church,
was built and dedicated November 11, 1917. In 1982, the property was purchased by St. Paul Baptist Church. A 1981 photo of the church is shown below. (Peter Laskaris Phoco).
