ABOVE: c1865 engraving shows what would became one of Middletown's greatest industries under the genius of the Clenison family. At lett was the saw factory. established 1853 on King Street which by 1857 had built the plant on Railroad Avenue and Cottage Street; above that the steel works built c1862; and the file works at right, established 1857 on King Street, which later moved to the location atxove.
